Hey all!

Time for an Official SAU NSW Putty Rd Cruise! This time around we are doing it for a charity- RSPCA. All we ask, is a gold coin donation on the day :)

Now because this is a charity cruise for the RSPCA, lets have some fun with our furry friends and dress up the cars :) whether we have all kinds of plush toys sitting on our back windows, Domo's sitting in our passenger seat, soft toys attached to the front grill, BE CREATIVE!!!

Date: Sunday the 22nd of April 2012

Meet location: Percival St carpark, Clarendon. (Map below)

Meet time: 10am for a 1030am SHARP departure

Destination: Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley

Maps: Below are two maps showing the meet point. If you are having trouble finding the meeting point, you can Google map search "Percival St Clarendon" and it will take you straight to the meet point

Important things to note;

1. Bring a full tank of petrol to the start point, there are no petrol stations/stops until Singleton.

2. Only place for 98 Octane fuel in Singleton is BP 53 George St, Singleton. They're open on Sundays.

3. You dont have to be a club member to come along to this event.

4. This will go ahead if raining, although if hail is forecast check this thread on the day to check (just incase) if its been called off. We will make this call the night before

5. This is not a speed event, its a cruise. Want to speed? Come to one of our trackdays instead!

On this cruise we will ALL be sticking to the speed limit. There will be

NO DRIFTING.

NO BURNOUTS

NOTHING ILLEGAL!

We will be the most courteous users on the road, and we will not be doing ANYTHING to cause any disrepute for the club. <

any 'suspect' (read modified) cars should tuck themselves somewhere between 3rd and 3rd-last in the convoy.

As with all SAU:NSW events, this cruise will run under a CAMS permit

This will be another fun day, with the only cost a bit of fuel, and what ever you decide to buy at the pub at the end :).

Bring a walky talkie if you have one, as we will sort out a channel to use at the start. Remember to dress those cars up!!

Crowne Plaza is at Lovedale, its roughly 20->25mins once we get off Putty Road guys... We end up in Lovedale @ Crowne Plaza, Country & Golf Club which is 10minutes from Cessnock itself. There are numerous service stations BP, Caltex in Cessnock.

Originally the plan was to turn at Milbrodale and cut across to lovedale through Broke, seemed like the most direct route, although its not confirmed as yet. Anything we should know about these roads? I do know there is a wooden bridge, one lane, at the end of Milbrodale Rd.

Oooh - Crowne Plaza... Fancy!

that wooden bridge isnt anything to worry about, a plethora of GTR's make it every year.

    • I would hope so. I worry that it also might depend on whether the person working on the claim has had a good day or not. I could imagine that for example modified brakes would be an easy thing to point to for affecting the outcome of an accident. I don't know. I will keep paying my premium and hope for the best. But at the same time keep safe distances, drive defensively and avoid dickhead P-platers in lifted utes
    • I was just working on the assumption that a cammed V8 is significantly less polluty than a Japanese I6 turbo was at the way they tested it in an IM240. Perhaps I'm wrong! Perhaps cutting one of the readings I got in half is a tall order. I don't know too many people who actually got their cars emission tested with a RB to really compare the data.
    • I thought it was just if “the modification effected/caused the incident”
    • Ok, good to know. I have open loop I think, I forgot which ones which but I am running the o2 sensor, brand new and I got a new boost solenoid because my last one was faulty and overboosting by a lot, but it's still technically overboosting. Haven't really bothered to hunt it down as I don't send it hard regularly.
    • You should not be able to see much smoke behind you if the mixtures are good - for ~13-14 psi anyway. It's not like you need to be running hell rich for only that much boost/load. Your tune might be a tad too rich. The tuner might have done that because they like to run a lot of timing. It's impossible to know what's going on from here. It won't be the actuator. It won't be the MAP sensor. Regardless of if by "MAP sensor" you mean either the Neo ECU's boost sensor (which is literally only that, a boost sensor so that the ECU knows a) that it's achieving boost, and b) that it is not overboosting) or you mean the dash gauge's MAP sensor (because it can't have any effect at all), or you mean the boost controller's MAP sensor (because it is very unlikely that it is running in closed loop, and so it is effectively just used to know when the pressure goes positive and so you can see the boost on the display, for the most part).
